YANAC Mission

The Young American National Awareness Campaign acronym YANAC is a 501 (c)(3) Public Benefit non-profit organization designed to deter youth from negative behavior and violent activities, through personal image enhancement and positive directions by "bridging the gaps with education, families moral and ethical values. We believe these elements will assure an individual a strong character, self-sufficiency and a productive lifestyle.

A new affirmative direction towards making difference in America's young people concept of the "American Dream". YANAC's overall concern is to build lives and making a difference in the lives of people and their communities. To share our insight, motivation, love, and care. To instill in them that: Our Children can riseup from the ashes, and..."The Dream Is Worth The Climb"!

YANAC is dedicated in guiding our youth, young adults and other individuals of poverty status through opportunities to develop talents and gain tools to obtain life skills that will afford them the empowerment to become self-sufficient and productive for themselves, their families and in their communities. Programs that build self-esteem, confidence and responsibility enhances the ability to sculpture, maintain and advance one's career. There's an old saying; "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; but, teach a man to fish and he eats for life" . That's YANAC objective; to teach one how to "fish for Life"!

EDUCATION

YANAC encourages higher education and provides an academic support system to assist preschooler through undergrad college students with their challenges to achieve their goals. Discouraging truancy and other activities that could cause an individual to consider truancy, dropping out, or suspension as an option. The History: " THE DREAM IS WORTH THE CLIMB"!

In August of 1992, after the street of Compton were ravished and looted by the angry residents during the "Los Angeles Civil Arrest"; Reverend Greg Alexander took his family out into the streets of Compton and began to sweep up the street and businesses; where looters had burned and vandalized the local merchants of their goods. By the days end, Rev. Alexander realized that approximately a dozen more people had come out to join his family in cleaning up the trashed and burned out building. That's when Reverend Alexander says; "I heard a voice (the spirit of God) said to me; "I want you to clean up the this city (Compton) and teach the children how to survive without destroying each other! Teach my children the Right way to live; for My children can rise up from the ashes, and ..."The Dream Is Worth The Climb"! That's when Rev. Alexander realized that he had to do something. So he did! He organized a organization out of the very same volunteers he had out there cleaning and repairing the streets of Compton. He named it; The Young American National Awareness Campaign; acronym; "YANAC".

Now, with over thirty five (35) years of experience in the entertainment industry; combined with a wealth of expertise and involvement with youth development and community service programs to their credit; Reverened Greg Alexander and his wife (M. Elaine) has dedicated their lives toward educating, enhancing and empowering the youth and young adults of the inner city communities of compton and surrounding areas with long term family self-sufficiency life skills. Along with behavioral monification skills and principals that help young people gain a better understanding of family values, social, and economical welfare. With these skills and principals truly Our Children can rise up from the ashes, and..."The Dream Is Worth The Climb!"
